This jacket is Lizi's response to challenging the historic definition of the term ‘skin color’. Painted in 2017 it was inspired by an experience she had learning fresco painting in Florence, Italy. The professor told Lizi's class that 'skin color' was made by mixing pink, yellow and white. Seeing the flaws in this statement Lizi designed this piece to illustrate what 'skin color' meant to her.
The pattern of the jacket is part of a style Lizi uses in much of her work which was inspired by the geometric shapes of one of her favorite artists: Victor Vasarely.
In June 2020 Lizi auctioned this jacket to the highest bidder to raise money for the Black Lives Matter movement. 100% of the profits raised were donated to The Bail Project to pay the bail for those in need and fighting for justice.
